TWO-STAGE LIGHT-GAS MAGNETIC PLASMA LAUNCHER FOR BALLISTIC TESTS UNDER HIGH VACUUM CONDITIONS

Abstract

The results of experimental and analytical study of a two-stage light-gas magnetic plasma launcher are presented. An optical method for measuring the speed of small bodies (2–10 mm) was developed and was used to test the magnetic plasma launcher to accelerate particulates. The experimental data are in good agreement with the mathematical model of a two-stage light-gas gun in the approximation of constant acceleration pressure for a projectile.
